About the Atlas of the Biosphere
The Atlas of the Biosphere is a project of the University of Wisconsin's Institute for Environmental Studies' Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment (SAGE). Our goal is to provide more information about the environment, and human interactions with the environment, than any other source. We will make every effort to distribute the data as freely as possible, and will provide original sources in the cases where we are not allowed to.
Those of us working on the atlas project strongly feel that environmental education is a key to the future. By emphasizing human / environment interactions in the science curriculum using maps and images provided by our website you magnify the impact of the information you provide.
Enjoy our atlas, we designed it with users of all backgrounds in mind. We certainly hope that professors, teachers, students, and enthusiasts will use our website to its fullest extent. If you have suggestions for additions, or the desire to participate in some capacity in the atlas project, please do not hesitate to contact us. This is an ongoing project that - if successful - will never reach completion.
