Marshall joined the Population Health department as an M.S. student in the fall of 2010. At SAGE, he is working with Dr. Jonathon Patz, and will be broadly researching the effects of climate change and air pollution on health. Specifically he is looking at how different energy policies impact local air quality and health outcomes and how these are affected by local and regional climates.
After completing his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in 2004 where he majored in neuroscience, Marshall spent 6 years chasing his dream of competing in the Olympics. As a cross-country ski racer, he was fortunate to get to travel and ski both domestically and in Europe, making many friends and memories along the way. Having moved to the Midwest from Bend, OR, Marshall is now excited to conquer the Birkie each winter.
