Dr. M. Evren Soylu is a post-doctoral researcher at SAGE. His research goals are to better
understanding the water transfer among soil-water-atmosphere system using
integrated ecosystem and water flow models as well as quantifying the effects
of climate variability and change, soil type, and land cover changes on surface
energy and water balances.

Dr. Soylu received his PhD degree at University of Nebraska – Lincoln in hydrology specialization. In his PhD degree, he studied the impact of climate variability and human activities on surface energy and water balances over central US as well as interrelationship between land surface processes and groundwater using vadose zone and land surface models (mainly using Agro-IBIS Dynamic Global Vegetation

Model). He has looked not only at the impact of groundwater on surface energy

and water balances but also the estimation of evapotranspiration from shallow groundwater environments by using diurnal water table fluctuation based methods. He obtained his undergraduate and master degrees from Hydrogeological Engineering program at Hacettepe University – Ankara, Turkey. He investigated karstic rocks through examining cave deposits in relation to paleoenvironmental reconstruction in his master study.
