Yanghui Kang is a master's student in the Environment and Resources Program in Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Advised by professor Mutlu Ozdogan, Yanghui' research focuses on the remote sensing application in Land Use and Land Cover Change issues, especially in the deforestation processes in developing countries. 

Yanghui has got a B.S. degree in Geographical Information System, Beijing Normal University. There she gained skills of RS and GIS techniques, as well as the interests concerning geographical and environmental problems. Her thesis for the bachelor's degree developed a method for the estimation of soil roughness by multi-angular remote sensing. The summary of this work has been turned into a paper of a remote sensing conference in China.
